Devotionals for Christians

Spending time with God should be top priority in any Christian's faith walk. Time with God looks different for everyone. It could be singing, dancing, painting, reading, writing, praying, or studying but all these avenues are focused on getting closer to God. I'm more inclined to read, pray, and write for my intentional time with God so I wanted to share a few of my favorite activities.

1. A devotional for the busy busy bee:

I love this prayer journal because it provides a quick, simple template for you to write in while also giving a verse you can think about. This is a 52 week devotional with themes and prompts to make your devotional experience straightforward and easy. I like to do devotionals more than once a week, but I still like the structure of this journal.

2. A Bible that offers a new perspective

This devotional was probably the most life changing for me. While it doesn't offer daily prompts or a place to even write in, this 365 day chronological Bible breaks up the Bible into short, manageable chunks that you can read every day to finish in 1 year. What was life changing for me was the order in which the Bible was laid out. They put the stories in chronological order and this JUST MADE SENSE to me. My logical mind thrived with this layout and I learned more than I ever have. This was life changing also because I intentionally read the Bible every day for a whole year. I started my day with reading and it set my day in order. I loved the peace and wisdom I walked in daily from reading this. This is a study I would do over and over again.

3. Walking in the Spirit and Hearing from God

This is one of the most popular books in my church circle. A regular fan favorite among my friends and family. If you want to get closer to God and realize the power of His love in your life, this is the book for you. If you're experiencing HARD times in your life, this book will help bring you out of darkness.

4. For the anxious person

This is awesome for people who struggle with panic attacks or anxiety. It's especially helpful for the times when you don't experience instant relief from prayer but experience the slow process of healing through faith and believing in God's loving character. This is an interesting read for believers walking out a faith journey on the slow track to healing.

5. A journal for the free spirit

My hubby got me this journal because I was craving something with a little less structure. I had been in school and teaching full-time and struggled to meet the demands of a daily or even weekly devotional that I was used to. This journal has a verse on each page and lined paper. It gives you the freedom to write out your prayers, jot down your thoughts, or record prophetic words God has spoken over your life. It also has a little space for the date so there's no pressure to conform to specific dates. Write every day, every other day, or once a week!

6. For the avid reader

I have actually not read this one yet, but it got great reviews on Amazon and Joyce Meyer is a fan favorite/ best seller. If you want something you don't have to write in and just read a little each day, this is a good choice. It has a short anecdotal passage each day that is super easy to read and very relatable. This is a great way to put your trust in God daily.

7. A Devotional Everyone Loves

This was the first devotional I had ever done. It is great for new believers or even mature believers. It provides a short reading and scripture references so you can study the Bible alongside. This is an easy read with 365 days of devotionals that are easy to keep up with. This is a great way to start your day.

I hope you're able to find something you like and that you are able to grow closer to God as you seek Him every day. If you have a favorite you want to share with me, please comment those suggestions.
